The Carbon Trust is an independent company, set up by the UK government in 2001, to help assist companies reduce their carbon emissions through development of low carbon technologies.[1]

Carbon Trust provides businesses and the public sector with advice, finance and certification to help lower carbon footprints. The idea is to help spur demand for low carbon products and services. Through July 2009, the company said it has helped save over 17 million tonnes of carbon, with savings of more than £1billion.[2]
