Eddy Fong [1] is chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). He was appointed to this position in October 2006 [2] and will serve a three-year term.

Background

Fong has served as a non-executive SFC director since January 2005. He is also the chairman of the Advisory Committee, and a member of SFC (HKEC Listing) Appeals Committee and Remuneration Committee.

Fong is a certified public accountant and has been engaged in audit and listing activities for over 30 years. He was formerly a senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Education

Fong was educated in Hong Kong and in the United Kingdom and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972. He was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Civil Law by the University of Kent in July 1997.

Affiliations/Awards

Fong is currently non-executive director of the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation [3] and the treasurer and Council member of the Open University of Hong Kong. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 1996 and was awarded Silver Bauhinia Star in 2000 by the Government of the HKSAR.
