Gary S. Guzy is the general counsel of APX, an infrastructure provider for environmental and energy markets. He is responsible for leading APX's legal strategy and worldwide regulatory and government affairs program.[1]

Background

Recently, Guzy was with Marsh, a global risk management and insurance brokerage firm. While at Marsh, he managed the firm's climate and sustainability program, working closely with clients around the world to identify and address emerging environmental risks and trends.[2][3]

Previously, Guzy was appointed by former president Bill Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the top legal official at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1998 to 2001.[4]

Earlier in his career, he was a partner in Foley Hoag LLP's environmental law group and a senior trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice's Environment Division. In addition, he served as a consultant to the U.S. Senate's Environmental and Public Works Committee and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.[5]

Guzy also is an adjunct professor of environmental law at the Georgetown University Law Center and teaches the law school's first-ever course on climate change. He serves on the advisory board of the Environmental Law and Policy Review as well as on the green advisory committees of the Urban Land Institute and Greater Washington Board of Trade.

Education

Guzy is a graduate of Cornell Law School and Cornell University. His legal career began as a judicial clerk to Elbert P. Tuttle, Senior Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta.[6]
