Prior to joining Trayport in 2009, Heffron worked for more than 30 years in the commodity sector in financial services with institutions such as Bank of Scotland from 2003 to 2009 where he served as a senior vice president, Bankers Trust where he worked from 1982 to 2000 as a managing director and Enron. 
He also served as a vice president at FNB Chicago from 1981 to 1982.
He has a bachelor of science degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1976.
