Leslie V. Hosking is a non-executive director of AGL Energy Limited and chairman of the Carbon Market Institute.[1][2]

Previously, he was managing director and chief executive officer at National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO). He has been involved in the Australian futures industry for more than thirty years. He served as chief executive of the Sydney Futures Exchange from 1985 to 2000.

On March 12, 2009, Hosking was inducted into the Futures Hall of Fame, which was established in 2005 to commemorate outstanding contributions to the global futures and options community.[3]

Background

In October 1996, Hosking was appointed board member of the newly formed National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO) and was managing director and chief executive officer until October 2008.

He is a board member of the Australian government’s Industry Research & Development Board and chairman of the IR&D Board’s Funds Management Committee, which administers government research and development, innovation, commercialization and venture capital programs.

He was inducted into the Australian Banking and Finance Hall of Fame in April 2000 for his contribution to the development of the Australian futures industry.

He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance and an associate of the Securities Institute of Australia. In April 2003, he was awarded a Centenary Medal of Australia for outstanding contribution to the promotion of Australia’s financial services.[4]
