Sayee Srinivasan is acting chief economist at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He was named to that position in December 2013 by Chairman Gary Gensler.[1] Srinivasan joined the Commission in 2012 in the Office of the Chief Economist.

Srinivasan was previously a director of Asian product and market development for CME Group. He is also an adjunct professor for the Illinois Institute of Technology, Stuart School of Business.[2]

Background

Srinivasan worked for CME Group starting in 2001. Before that, he was a research economist for OptiMark Technologies from 1999 to 2001.

He has written articles for various trade and industry publications, and co-authored books.

In 2009, Srinivasan was believed to be a possible contender for the chief executive officer spot at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).[3]

Education

Srinivasan received an MMS in finance from S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research and a PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
