Thomas Huertas is the banking sector director at the Financial Services Agency (FSA). He was appointed as director of the wholesale firms division for FSA in November of 2004.[1]

Huertas was also appointed as the European Banking Authority (EBA) alternate chairperson on January 13, 2011, where he will carry out the functions of the chairperson - Andrea Enria - in his absence.[2]


Huertas joined Citigroup in 1975, and held a number of senior positions in the company. He worked on regulatory issues and corporate strategy in both the United States and Europe as the chief of staff for the vice-chairman. From 2001 to 2003, Thomas was chief executive of Orbian, a trade finance and settlement company.

More recently, Huertas was managing director of Citigroup Global Transaction Services.


Huertas recieved a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.
