NYSE Liffe US , NYSE Euronext’s U.S. futures exchange launched trading on metals futures on September 8, 2008. Trading is fully electronic and the contracts are physically delivered. NYSE Liffe US Mini Gold futures are 33.2 ounces per contract, one-third the size of the full sized 100 ounce contract that is also traded on the exchange.[1]

NYSE Liffe U.S. futures contracts trade on the LIFFE CONNECT electronic trading platform.

The NYSE Liffe US metals complex was purchased from the CME Group in March of 2008. The contracts were formerly the metals complex of the Chicago Board of Trade. The CME Group disposed of the complex ahead of its purchase of the New York Mercantile Exchange to avoid any anti-trust problems with the transaction related to its dominant position in metals.

Originally as part of the purchase deal with the CME Group, the contracts continued to clear at the CME's clearing house, but on March 30, 2009 clearing for NYSE Liffe US metals were transferred to The Options Clearing Corporation.
